Frequently Asked Questions

I have thin black lines on my back teeth, are they decayed?

Spots that appear as thin lines are usually a sign of the onset of caries. They are most common in areas with very deep recesses where the brush and saliva do not come into contact. The old treatment method of waiting for the decay to grow and filling it is not accepted in modern dentistry. In such a case, the tooth is stained with liquids that have the ability to detect caries by staining and the starting points of the caries are detected with devices (loop or microscope) with magnification feature. The aim of this technique called fissurotomy is to prevent the tooth from decaying again from the same area and to prevent the tooth from progressing by growing like an iceberg in the depths, which looks point-like from the outside.
