Zygomatic Implant

The zygomatic implant is a larger and special type of implant, unlike traditional implants. It is used in cases where there is insufficient bone in the upper jaw, especially in patients with advanced bone resorption. Traditional implants are usually 8-12 mm in length, while zygomatic implants vary between 30-50 mm.

These implants are placed in the cheekbone (zygomatic bone). The zygomatic bone is an area that supports the upper jaw bone and is usually harder. When there is not enough bone space in the upper jaw, a longer and stronger implant application can be made by utilizing the zygomatic bone.

Who Can Get a Zygomatic Implant?

  1. Long-Term Toothless Patients: In people who have worn removable dentures for many years, bone resorption may be advanced. In this case, implantation with bone grafts may not be possible, so a zygomatic implant may be the solution.

  2. Early Age Tooth Loss: Patients who have lost teeth at an early age due to genetic problems or various diseases.

  3. Insufficient Bone Structure: Patients with insufficient bone in the upper jaw can be supported with a zygomatic implant.

In patients who do not have a suitable bone structure for dental implants in the upper jaw, zygomatic implants can be applied as an effective alternative.
